This article explores the representations of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Mary Karooro Okurut’s The Switch (2016). In this article, I investigate why fictional communities depicted selected novel engage FGM practice. key method used to obtain data is a close reading primary text. secondary texts both print and electronic forms from relevant works were also consulted. was collected with guidance research objective. study involved examination documents guided by textual checklist as major instrument. adopted cultural feminist literary theory. study, discover that different way regulate their women’s sexual behaviour norm transform them childhood adulthood. author has tactfully techniques like diction, setting description among others clearly bring out her message
